No More Foam
Conscious Stethoscope Packaging
Nice looking packaging can play a huge role in why we purchase something but sometimes it causes us to overlook its impact on the environment.
Black foam is our industry standard and we're so used to seeing our stethoscopes wrapped in it that we never gave a second thought to its effects on the environment.
You might think it's just one box of foam but think about the warehouses and stores with thousands of stethoscopes and thousands of pieces of foam.
Mountains of foam the size of football stadiums would end up on our landfill from just one stethoscope company alone.
Foam already accounts for 25 to 30% of our landfills. The foam that doesn't appear in our landfills ends up choking and starving small animals and fish.
Because foam is a petroleum based product, elinating the use of foam will also decrease our dependency on oil.
MDF® has made a commitment to end the use of foam in our packaging. Though we may loose business over the change in aesthetics, it is the business we accept and sacrifice for the sake of mother nature.
Our new packaging uses recyclable post-consumer paper. For every time we use this, we save a thousand gallons of water and a thousand pounds of solid waste.
We're not claiming that we're the shining example of an environmentally responsible company by any means. There's so much more we can do, but because change needs to happen and it needs to start somewhere, we're eager to begin.
