Stethoscopes From MDF Instruments

Although the tubing may look similar between the ProCardial® and MD One® Stethoscope Series, there are differences in the sound conduction and overall length.

The ProCardial® Stethoscope Series stethoscope tubing is about 58cm (22.84 inches), with a total overall stethoscope length of 79cm (31.10 in).

The MD One® Stethoscope Series including our stainless steel MD One® and titanium MD One® Epoch Stethoscopes, have our traditional tubing that is slightly longer at approximately 63cm (24.80 in) in length, but with a shorter overall stethoscope length of 75cm (29.53 in).

Most of our stethoscopes can be customized with a unique engraving message. The engraving is etched into the bell of the stethoscope so you can add your name or a personalized message. Stethoscope engraving is a great way to ID your stethoscope without a tag, or a meaningful gift for someone special (including yourself).

Our artisan Mprint Series, prints and metal finish colors are carefully curated to make an eye-catching pairing that offers a unique style. We are not currently offering full customization of combinations, however we would love to hear what you like!

MDF® Stethoscopes will vary in weight depending on the model however in general stainless steel stethoscopes will feel heavier compared to titanium and aluminum. Stainless steel is a great conductor of sound being a dense metal, however it can feel heavy to some practitioners over long periods of time, especially those night shifts.

The green dot indicator is a green dot that is located on the stem of the chestpiece and faces the open sounds channel. The green dot indicator should be facing the side of the stethoscope chestpiece that you are using to listen. If the green dot indicator is facing the other side, simply rotate the chestpiece to click and lock into place, opening the sound channel and side of the chestpiece you would like to use. MDF Stethoscopes will have a true bell and true diaphragm, which means that each side of the stethoscope chestpiece (bell and diaphragm) are designed to pick up specific frequencies of sounds. The MDF® ultrasensitive diaphragm side of the chestpiece is equipped with a tightly sealed membrane that is effective for picking up high frequency sounds. The open and rounded bell of the chestpiece is ideal for listening to low frequency sounds. Sometimes it can be difficult to distinguish between high and low frequencies that we are listening for, so having a true bell and a true diaphragm helps us distinguish between them and takes the guesswork out of auscultation.
