I'm just gonna be talking about the difference between the two stethoscopes because although they look the same they are both very different from one another. So without further ado, let's get started. Before I get into the actual comparison I figured I would tell you guys some universal facts about the MDF® Instruments stethoscopes. First off, all of them are latex free which for me is really important because I do have a latex allergy. There are three different sized ear tips that are removable and replaceable. There is small, medium and large. All their stethoscopes have a
Lifetime Warranty as well as
Free Parts for Life. I'm not going to get into the Free Parts for Life program too much in this video because I have stressed about it and informed you guys about it in a ton of other videos. If you want to learn more about it I have a lot more details about it in last week's video.
You can personalize each of these stethoscopes that MDF® Instruments has to offer. Each stethoscope has a dual head, meaning the bell has a larger side as well as a smaller side. This one is typically an adult side and this one is typically a pediatric side. Or used for auscultation when you can't hear as well. And the side of the bell that is on is clearly marked by either a black or a green dot. And the dot will be facing the same way as the bell that is working. Also about the ear tips is they have a safety lock mechanism so that they will not fall off or come out in your ears. Which can lead to a lot of problems. And while there is so many other things that are universal about these stethoscopes the other one I wanted to mention is that the tubing of these are longer than the standard stethoscope and each stethoscope is roughly 31.2 inches, whereas a standard stethoscope typically measures around 28 inches. Now you wouldn't think those few inches would make a difference however they make a huge difference if you are dealing with a sick patient because it means you have to be less close to them in order to use your stethoscope.
And now I'm just going to get into the individual facts about each stethoscope starting with the MDF® Instruments MD One® stethoscope. This is one of the first stethoscopes I started out with. And right here I just have two. They are both the same they are both the MDF® Instruments MD One® stethoscopes. They just look a little different. That is because the MD One® stethoscopes come in patterns as well as in solid colors. You'll also notice that the hardware differs as well and that is because you can get different colored hardware for them. For this one in particular you can get the silver, rose gold, glossy rose gold or black and the hardware for these ones are stainless steel. The weight of the stethoscope is around 6.7 ounces and the stethoscope comes in over 35 different prints patterns and colors. 18 of which are all just solid colors. As you guys can see here I have this one which is just white with the rose gold. And then I have one of their patterned ones this is just the pink breast cancer awareness one. And in terms of pricing these ones start off at around 54.90 and you can also get the hardware in titanium which makes it more lightweight.
Next up is the MDF® Instruments lightweight Acoustica® which is my personal favorite stethoscope and probably always will be. As you guys can see right here I have it in two different colors. I have the one that has silver hardware and blue tubing and then I also have one that has black tubing and blue hardware. In terms of weight these ones weigh in at around 4.9 ounces and are super lightweight. When they say lightweight they mean lightweight. I know that for me personally I've had people borrow my stethoscope and take it and be like oh my god there is literally nothing to the stethoscope which is completely true. When you pick this up you wouldn't think that it was a stethoscope because of how light it is. The hardware on this one is aluminum and comes in five different colors it comes in silver, rose gold, glossy rose gold, blue and red. And the stethoscope itself comes in 24 different solid colors. These ones do not come in patterns unfortunately. And in terms of pricing these ones start at around 19.99 which is super affordable.
So these are the two stethoscopes in comparison to each other. This one right here is the lightweight Acoustica®. And this is the MD One®. Just basically looking at it you can tell that there is absolutely no difference other than the hardware color and tubing color. The only way you are going to know that they are different stethoscopes is if you pick them up. Because this one is heavier than this one.
So that is just a comparison between the two stethoscopes. And I hope this video helps you guys to pick which stethoscope is right for you. Personally I know that the lightweight Acoustica® is the one for me. I absolutely love it I've done an entire video on it and I've featured it in so many videos because of how much I love it. One thing I do recommend is that you do your research when picking a stethoscope because one - all stethoscopes are different and offer different features; two - stethoscopes are not always cheap and three - you want a stethoscope that is going to last you.
