I'm sure a lot of you guys have heard me talk a ton about my favorite stethoscope which if you guys are new and don't know, I absolutely love the MDF® Instruments Acoustica® lightweight stethoscope. These are just two of them right here. I've been talking about the stethoscope ever since this summer when I first bought it and I've mentioned it in a ton of my medical assisting videos. I've never sat down and done a full on review and talked about why I like it so much, so I figured that's what I would do today. I will actually be giving one away to one of you guys. Which I will talk more about at the end.
So without further ado let's just jump into the video. I also want to mention that I will be doing a comparison video between the MDF® Instruments Acoustica® lightweight and the MDF® Instruments MD One® stethoscope. I do have both. I really love MDF® Instruments if you guys couldn't tell. I think I've been mentioning them here on my channel for almost three years if not more. And one of the main reasons why I love their stethoscopes so much is because they are affordable and they are good quality, and they have a
Free-Parts-For-Life Program. Those of you who don't know what that is, if you need new eatips or new tubing all you have to do is contact them and they will send you the part for free, for life.
But now talking about the actual stethoscope. They look like any other stethoscope however the tubing on these is longer than the average stethoscope which I absolutely love, because if you have one of those patients that's sick you really don't want to get too close. That's when this stethoscope comes in perfectly because it's longer, so you don't have to be like all up in their bubble doing things. The length of this is a little over 31 inches whereas (other stethoscope) is only 28 inches.
Like the name suggests, it's a lightweight stethoscope, and this summer I was doing my externship and I was using my (other stethoscope) and I'm someone who has my stethoscope around my neck all day because if I leave it on the desk I will forget it when I go to get a patient and go to take their blood pressure, and I'll be like well gotta leave and go get my stethoscope, and that's really annoying. You don't want to be that person because it's wasting your time, the patient's time and the provider's time, so I like to keep it on my neck.
The (other stethoscope) weighs 158 grams whereas the MDF® lightweight stethoscope only weighs a 130, and the 20 gram difference may not seem like a lot but when you're wearing it on your neck all day you will notice that it actually is. Even just picking them up there is literally nothing to this stethoscope which I absolutely love. I don't know if you guys have noticed that much because I haven't like full on shown it, but as you guys can see the stethoscope's a little different because the hardware is a different color than normal. The hardware for this one is actually like a tealish blue and then it has black tubing. I also have one that has red for the hardware. It also comes in the regular silver and I believe it also comes in rose gold, and I think it also may come in black. Which is another thing, this stethoscope comes in 24 different colors.
It does have the dual head so that you can have the regular bell side and then the pediatric bell side. The hardware for this one is actually aluminum rather than stainless steel.
While I'm editing this I did want to jump in and say that the stethoscopes actually start as low as $19.99 which is amazing because that is super affordable for such a nice stethoscope. I also wanted to say that there are five colors of the hardware. I believe I only mentioned four, but there are actually five. There's the rose gold, shiny gold, the blue, the red and then the regular silver.
And what's really neat is you can get them either on the MDF® website or you can get them on the MDF Instruments® Amazon page. However if you guys would like to have personalization which you actually can get the bell engraved, you do have to order through the MDF® Instruments website. They don't do personalizing through Amazon.
