For more than two decades, the University of Toledo College of Medicine’s Medical Missions Program has traveled to rural mountain villages in Guatemala and Honduras. MDF Instruments has been honored to support their efforts by providing high-quality tools such as stethoscopes and sphygmomanometers for their teaching initiatives.
Led by Dr. Richard Paat, these medical missions—and the students who participate—have made an extraordinary impact on the lives of Guatemalan and Honduran families. Each year, a dedicated group of medical, physician assistant, and nursing students journeys to these communities with one goal: to help those most in need. This year alone, the Toledo Team trained 32 health promoters and provided care to 2,250 patients.

Once training is complete, the newly prepared community health workers have the opportunity to “craft their own wellness” by delivering basic medical services using the MDF tools left behind by the Medical Missions team. This may seem small to some, but for these rural communities, having someone who understands their needs and can offer essential care is truly invaluable.
The Toledo Medical Missions team is gearing up for another round of training in the coming weeks, and we at MDF are proud to support their work by supplying the equipment these communities rely on. We look forward to hearing about their next trip and will continue to share updates on the incredible work being done.
